LAMDA (the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) exams give young people a structured, nationally recognised path from their first performance to Gold Medal — building skills that outlast any certificate.
What LAMDA lessons actually involve
Students work one-to-one, in pairs or in small groups on performance pieces — acting scenes, poetry, prose — chosen to stretch and suit them. Along the way they learn vocal technique, physicality, interpretation and stagecraft, then perform for a visiting LAMDA examiner. Every acting exam also includes a spoken "knowledge" element — understanding character, staging and the craft behind the performance. It's part of what makes these Ofqual-regulated qualifications, and the questions grow more detailed and demanding as students move up through the levels.
Grades 6–8 carry UCAS points — the same currency as A-levels — which universities recognise in applications.
Introductory & Entry
First steps: learning a piece, standing tall, and enjoying performing. Confidence before technique.
Grades 1–3 Level 1
Growing range: contrasting pieces, character work, and the beginnings of real interpretive craft.
Grades 4–5 Level 2
Deeper interpretation and stagecraft, with knowledge questions that ask for real understanding of the work.
Grades 6–8 & Medals Level 3
Advanced performance and detailed knowledge — UCAS points at Grades 6–8, deep text work, and genuine artistry.

In schools
Well Said teaches weekly LAMDA lessons at leading independent and grammar schools in Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. Depending on the school, lessons take place both during the school day and after school; we handle exam entry, piece selection and preparation, and keep parents informed at every stage — from first lesson to results day.
